Once you are equipped with a master password for LastPass, you can add, view, and manage your passwords in the LastPass “vault,” a cloud-based storage unit with multiple layers of encryption that holds passwords and notes and generates new, unique passwords. ![]() I appreciated that LastPass simplified the process by recommending that I create a password based on a story only I would know, a quote from a favorite mug, or favorite song lyrics. For a moment, I was unsure about what to write, since using a variation of the password that I use for many websites defeats the point of LastPass. Theoretically, the password that you create for your LastPass account is the last password you will need to remember (hence the name “LastPass”). Then, you are prompted to create a master password. ![]() LastPass can be added as an extension to your web browser (Google Chrome), as seen in the red box to the right of the web address bar.
